DCPCU

The Dedicated Cheque and Plastic Crime Unit (DCPCU) is a specialist police unit that is responsible for investigating serious and organised card and cheque fraud.

The DCPCU has a national remit, is fully sponsored by the banking industry and has been operational since April 2002. The Unit comprises officers from the City of London and Metropolitan police forces working alongside civilian payments industry fraud investigators.

Since its inception, the Unit has secured more than £315 million in savings from reduced fraud activity. It also includes the Payments Industry & Police Joint Intelligence Unit which deals with all aspects of payment fraud intelligence.
