UK Payments Executive Committee
The Executive Committee develops the UK Payments strategy and looks at the long-term needs of the organisation, including staff development and financial management. It ensures that work across the organisation is consistent and well managed, meeting the objectives agreed by the board of UK Payments Administration Ltd.
Adrian Kamellard, Chief Executive
Adrian joined UK Payments Administration in November 2011.
Adrian previously worked at the centre of government in the Cabinet Office. His role including establishing a strategic commercial team tasked with renegotiating high value contracts, designing and implementing outsourced business process reengineering projects and spinning off
new business out of government departments. Adrian’s
work in this area saved £800 million in one year, without
adversely affecting the quality of services received by the
taxpayer. Before moving to the Cabinet Office, Adrian was
Head of Major Projects at Partnerships UK, where he was
also seconded to serve as the Chief Executive of
Broadband Delivery UK. Earlier in his career, Adrian was
an Investment Director at Charterhouse Bank, where he
advised on telecoms projects in both the public and private
sectors.
Gary Hocking, Chief Operating Officer
Gary is the Chief Operating Officer of UK Payments Administration Limited. He has been in this post since 2006, before which he led the multi-stakeholder Chip and PIN Programme.
Paul Marsh, Director, The UK Cards Association
Paul is the managing director of The UK Cards Association, the trade association for the cards industry in the UK. He also has overall responsibility for UK Payments' fraud prevention activities, ensuring we remain at the cutting edge of the payment industry's efforts to counter fraud.
Sandra Quinn, Director of Communications
Sandra heads up the communications team at UK Payments who handle the organisation's relations with media, Parliament and other key external stakeholders, both here and in the EU. Sandra is also involved in the marketing of UK Payments and growing our sphere of influence.
Peter Finlayson, Director of Policy
Peter has responsibility for major initiatives such as the development of the National Payments Plan and for consultancy, research and analysis, and the co-ordination of industry standards.
Hilary Plattern, Director of Strategy and Governance
Hilary is responsible for strategy and governance issues and for overseeing the work on payments integrity, information security and the development of the Single Euro Payments Area. She is also responsible for cash, SWIFT UK, EBA UK Group, online banking fraud, mobile payments and the bank reference database.
Mike Chambers, Bacs Payment Schemes Managing Director & interim CHAPS Clearing Company Managing Director
Mike is the managing director of Bacs which has been at the heart of the payments industry for over 40 years. Bacs is responsible for the schemes behind the clearing and settlement of automated payments in the UK. Prior to joining Bacs, Michael held a number of strategic positions at Barclays Bank including head of electronic
solutions delivery; senior solutions delivery manager;
and head of funds control.
Mike is also interim managing director of CHAPS
Clearing Company Ltd with responsibility for CHAPS
Sterling and the Faster Payments Schemes.
Angela Thomas, Cheque and Credit Clearing Company Managing Director
Angela is the managing director of the Cheque and Credit Clearing Company Limited, the organisation responsible for the bulk clearing of cheques and paper credits throughout Great Britain. Prior to joining the Cheque and Credit Clearing Company Angela worked at Abbey National leading a specialist team covering the banks external payment and regulatory strategy.
